The Bees are Back

IMG_1104 (3)Yay! The Carambola trees are full of flowers and the bees are buzzing around, pollinating them. Can’t wait till the trees are thick with tasty Star Fruit.

Did you know that this week is “National Pollinators Week”? I kid you not. Who would have known!? I came across a little blurb about it on Instagram, which prompted me to do some research. Eight years ago the U.S. Senate unanimously approved and designated a week in June as “National Pollinators Week” to address the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations. Pollinators include bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles. The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture signs the proclamation every year; and this year it’s June 15-21, 2015. For useful Planting Guides and pollinator trivia you can go to www.pollinator.org

    • Thanks! My camera phone is limited. I’m not able to take close-up pictures of moving critters, like bees, without them coming out blurred. If I want to get better close-up photos, I will need to use a better camera that I can adjust… I have looked at your website and your pictures are spectacular. Thanks for sharing.
