Did you know that this week is “National Pollinators Week”? I kid you not. Who would have known!? I came across a little blurb about it on Instagram, which prompted me to do some research. Eight years ago the U.S. Senate unanimously approved and designated a week in June as “National Pollinators Week” to address the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations. Pollinators include bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles. The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture signs the proclamation every year; and this year it’s June 15-21, 2015.
